Colic

Colic is common in young babies, causing intense periods of crying and screaming when they are otherwise healthy. Other symptoms a baby with colic may show are a red face, clenching their fist or drawing their knees to their chest. Colic tends to affect babies a few weeks after birth and may last until they are six months old. Colic can be distressing for parents but it is a phase which will pass. It can be challenging for parents to cope with a baby with colic. It is important for parents to look after their wellbeing by asking friends and family for support. It is also important to remember that colic will stop eventually. If your baby has colic, they should continue to feed and gain weight normally. If there are any changes in your baby's health, or you have any concerns about their wellbeing or your own, always contact a Doctor or healthcare advisor.
