Verrucas are hard lumps containing a small black dot which appear on the feet and are the product of a viral infection. Verrucas are contagious and are commonly spread in public showers or swimming pools. Verrucas can be painful but are not harmful, and can be treated by plasters, sprays or creams over the course of a couple of months. If you regularly use a public pool, swimming socks can be purchased for use as a preventative or for protection during the verruca treatment period to avoid spreading the infection.
